We are students of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, Campus A. We are a third form social studies class, Miss Zeagman is our teacher. The reason we are writing this essay is because our classroom- Room 1, is a disgrace. Room 1 is a Humanities classroom and is used by many different groups of students during the day.

Over the years it has become run down. One of the main problems in our classroom is that it is very dark. It is so dark that students in the back rows can barely see what the teacher is writing on the black board. The lights in the room only work some of the time.


Some of the windows in our room do not open, plus if we have the air conditioning on and we open the windows the cool air escapes. If we had new plastic covers over the windows then we could let the light in and it would be a much better learning environment.

Our room is also very dusty, our floor isn’t tiled and it holds a lot of dust. Sometimes we are coughing and sneezing from all of the dust in the room. In our ideal classroom we would have a whiteboard and a tiled floor so there would be less dust.

When we enter the classroom it feels like we are not learning because of the conditions of the room. It makes it very hard to concentrate. There is bubble gum on the walls, and under our desks. Our posters are all torn. Once we saw a mouse run out from the cupboard.

Sometimes we feel embarrassed and ashamed because the classroom is so terrible. When we see the classroom sometimes we don’t feel like coming in. We deserve a comfortable classroom so that we can be proud of the room. If our room looked better, we would be happy to be in the room and excited to learn.

There are many things we need for the room, including a fresh coat of paint, some new posters, and desks that aren’t wobbly. We would feel so happy if our room was made over and was bright and clean for us to learn in.

PLEASE HELP US MAKEOVER ROOM 1 WE DESERVE IT!
